Abstract
Prophet Solomon holds a unique position of grandeur and magnificence in Persian literature. The exceptional allure and distinctive features of his life have provided poets and writers with a compelling basis for enhancing the impact of their discourse or demonstrating their proximity to royal courts. One such captivating element is the narrative of "Solomon's Seal." Although the Holy Quran does not explicitly mention this ring, various interpretations and narratives suggest that such accounts are derived from the content of verse 34 of Surah Sad: "And We certainly tried Solomon and placed on his throne a body; then he returned [to Us]". The ambiguity, brevity, and conciseness of this verse have given rise to diverse interpretations and narrations among exegetes. In this study, the researchers examine and analyze six authoritative Quranic commentaries while investigating the reflection and poetic adaptation of these themes in the works of Persian poets. This research adopts a descriptive methodology with a hermeneutic approach. The findings indicate that, according to the first and second narrations, the figure seated upon the throne symbolizes the carnal self and base desires. Moreover, the third and fourth narrations suggest that failure to submit affairs to divine will results in affliction and punishment. However, the majority of poets appear to have been influenced primarily by the interpretations associated with the first and second narrations, particularly those found in Al-Kashshaf and Kashf al-Asrar.
